The film 'Sex, Lies and Videotape' is probably one of the most acclaimed indie movies ever made. When it first came out in 1989, critics were totally taken by Sodenbergh's poetic narrative. The film develops around Graham's (played by James Spader) sexual impotence and obsession that leads him to videotape women as they describe their sexual fantasies. In this context, I tried to explore the screen texture as a metaphor for 'skin', revealing the cast gradually and giving a strong 'voyeuristic' touch. |
