The Article VIII of the American Bill of Rights is clear when it prohibits 'cruel and unusual punishments'. Nevertheless, capital punishment is not thought as cruel by great part of society and is still applied in many American states. In a world where television and mass media can turn capital punishment into a big entertainment event, it becomes urgent to reconsider this paradoxical position.
